On November 8 at ConventionCamp 2011 in Hanover, Germany, t3n magazine, the leading print publication for the German-speaking Web and tech scene, presented its Web Awards to winners in 21 categories for the first time. More than 300 guests from the political, media and business worlds watched the awards ceremony during the official evening event.
Over 20,000 t3n readers and members of the t3n online community participated in nomination and voting phases to select the most exciting social media, e-business, Web development and online marketing projects, services and products. With upwards of 60,000 votes, 100,000 visits to the t3n-award.de microsite set up specifically for the Awards, and 5,000 "likes" on Facebook, interest in the first t3n Web Awards was impressive. And that makes us even more pleased to be named Startup of the Year!

"We believe simfy embodies the vision, drive and innovation that define a successful entrepreneurial venture. simfy should be proud of its accomplishment, as the competition was very strong," said Alex Vieux, publisher and CEO of Red Herring.
Red Herring's editorial staff evaluated the companies on both quantitative and qualitative criteria, such as financial performance, technology innovation, management quality, strategy, and market penetration.

The award entries this year were of outstanding quality, with a more diverse range of digital businesses than ever. Particularly showing strong growth and heavily featured on the 2010 list are ecommerce ventures and digital agencies.

The ceremony took place in Hamburg on March 25th, where simfy was awarded in the category "webservice".
Unlike most awards, one cannot enter this competition; the LeadAcademy board chooses the nominees itself after reviewing hundreds of magazines and websites.
